Matt Anderson’s review published on Letterboxd :
On DVD, borrowed from the library
I like the story being told, but this isn’t what I expected out of a classic short film. It is more of a slideshow with narration. It is a historical account of a time-traveling savior with an omniscient narrator.
The viewer is shown still image after still image, and a story is being told, and there is music to set the mood, but it isn’t a short movie in the sense of a “motion picture.”
My expectations and definitions, however wrong they may be, for what should qualify as a film, strongly influenced how I felt about this experience.
I watched this because it is the inspiration for the film “Twelve Monkeys.” Interestingly, knowing the end of “Twelve Monkeys” was a spoiler for the end of this short film.
