I guess I'm old now because I would rather watch Mannequin, which is not good and I knew would not be good, over...well, 95% of movies that come out now.

I'm not a huge Spandau Ballet fan or anything; I like a few songs, but I really enjoyed this documentary. It uses a similar technique to the Sex Pistols' Filth and the Fury doc, using a ton of great archival footage of not only the band but British commercial footage of the 70s and 80s to really give you a sense of time and place. The amount of joy it brings me to discover, after 25 years of seeking them out, a hidden gem of an 80s teen movie...cannot be overstated. What a delight this was. Well-made, fun, funny and sweet.

The notion that Darla is "bland" (because she has short hair and glasses?) is a real She's All That situation.

Surprisingly funny! None of the gross out jokes that infiltrated comedy post-There's Something About Mary. Colin Hanks is good, Jack Black is still funny at this point and look at that supporting cast! Catherine O'Hara, John Lithgow and one (scene) and done appearances from Harold Ramis, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline and Chevy Chase. And for some reason Brian Wilson on the soundtrack amongst Crazy Town, Lit and other reminders of what a dire time this was for music.
