Favorites change from time to time just for funzies

Gosling is great, as always. Fun action and felt invested in the characters, especially that final fight. My biggest critique is that there’s waaaayyy too much talking on the phone in this movie. It’s like all they do for what feels like a solid half hour.
Knowing the story behind this and how it was made really tongue in cheek but also incredibly seriously takes this pretty funny movie with some inventive scenes and elevates it into a truly inspiring feat of filmmaking. Makes you feel like making YouTube videos really can lead to bigger things, but should also be appreciated in its own right as a form of filmmaking. And Matt steals the show.
Was SO looking forward to this after Columbus. Kogonada is just one of those singular filmmakers who will get me to watch anything he makes, and I LOVED this. Columbus will always hold a special place in my heart, but this is certainly a step up in various ways.
Without spoiling, there’s a scene where Colin Farrell is explaining why he loves tea to Yang, and it is just beautiful and heartbreaking and so inventive in the way it’s told.…
