Marco Soenke’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is one of my favorite action movies of the last years. A ruff, dirty, beautiful madness with spectacular shots and real settings & stunts. This is not your clean US Blockbuster, but a gritty affair with striking visuals, great camera work and lots of WTF-moments. Charlize Theron is amazing and Tom Hardy's Max has a bit more crazyness and restlessness than Gibson. But his part is a bit cut back in favour of the female heroines in the movie, which is a good thing.
There is not too much depth to the story, we got told enough to keep it interesting, but Miller digs not much deeper into Max's history. Maybe there will be more in possible sequels, but you don’t miss it here. Cause the action is the star, there's so much action in this movie and you never get tired of it. Did I say it looks gorgeous? Amazing movie.
