A huge honking mess, but lively as hell and way more watchable than Roberta. Marge and Gower are A+ in their three big numbers. Red Skelton shoots a piano twice and pulls out a skunk. Ann Miller’s character name is Bubbles Cassidy. Zsa Zsa Gabor plays herself. The Vincente Minnelli-directed fashion show climax is the Satan’s Alley of 1952. Kathryn Grayson and Howard Keel are also here.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

See, I think a magical village where everybody is played by Rory Kinnear sounds like a blast.

I hope this doesn’t come off as callous considering the subject matter, but that’s a very silly and extremely funny film.

A pleasant theme park ride that pretty much relies on you finding the leads charming. If you don’t, it’d be deadly. F. Gary Gray doesn’t find a unique style but also can’t quite match the franchise, so it’s like Sonnenfeld filtered through a murky window. I’m totally here for three-armed Rebecca Ferguson in a Sia wig, though.

A burn-all-patriarchal-religions-to-the-ground hellscape of a film that deserves the wide theatrical release Netflix will never grant.
