not to go on a #RepresentationMatters rant but this film deeply shaped who i am. i think i dressed as mulan for halloween four(4) years in a row as a kid. and so did my three sisters. my parents bought multiple of the same costume in diff sizes and we passed them down as we grew.

sentiments aside... the songs slap. the cast slaps. it's structurally flawless. rita hsiao truly out here writing an action packed, politically relevant, laugh-out-loud masterpiece…

had to sit on this review for a few hours bc i genuinely adore this film so so much. it's clever, and intricate, and delicate, and subtle. it's a coming of age story but creepy as hell and also just a really fun time on the surface. the stop motion is gorgeous and blows my mind to think about. the colors. the textures. the sets. henry selick went all out on this, and it's such an impressive piece of art.…

:))) this is an inspiring, feel-good bio drama w great performances and powerful moments. everyone giving the movie bad reviews is complaining that it's too "conventional" and "predictable" but it's like... lmao what did u expect? it's literally a classic Sports MovieTM!! all y'all wanting movies to ~subvert the genre~ so bad have too much faith in writers/audiences/the culture of the film and entertainment industry. this movie is exactly what u think it will be, the narrative structure is formulaic,…

ok disclaimer i have Not seen the og ghostbusters (don't @ me) but i thought this was silly and funny and dumb. paul rudd and carrie coon were wonderful. loved phoebe's character (movies about smart little girls who want to save the world are >>> !!!). me disliking finn wolfhard as an actor aside, i think he was wildly tonally miscast. the marshmallow fellas <333333!! Hated the last act of this movie, all the set up was so cool and fun…

this was fun!!! loved it! the second half Did lose me a bit bc the trailers/marketing are v misleading as to what the story is actually about... BUT literally who cares about any of that when the VibesTM are so good? why must something be ""well written"" when the movie looks like That, and the cast is like That, and the songs and colors and directing are like That! it's the 60s! there's fashion and London and cheesy horror and…

my sisters and i are all adopted from china, and currently in the process of trying to find our birth parents, so watching this documentary for family movie night w our parents was a bit of an Emotional Ride. but as i try to put my personal bias aside... it's really well made. the writing/editing is great, you care for all the characters, and i really love how it tells the story from all the different sides- not only the…
