    ReMastered: Devil at the Crossroads

First member of Club 27 club. Blues guitarist admired by Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix and others. Legend has it that he sold his soul to the devil at a crossroad in Mississippi. A very short documentary to a very short life of a person with huge influence in modern blues and rock 'n' roll.

  • Ave Maryam

    Ave Maryam

    ★★★½

A bit shaky on script there, like a poorly translated theological/philosophical book, but the cinematography and performance, especially Maudy K, delivered what the script failed to do. Purposefully slow pace and unfinished, very nuanced, visually good and not judgmental. Love, albeit forbidden, needs to be expressed and will find its way through.

Pengabdi Setan is beyond horror movies. Not only it scared the audiences and make them scream loud (and applauded later), but it did it in Joko Anwar's way. The acting is outstanding (all of them), the music and sound blend together perfectly, the cinematography is world class. Joko Anwar did it again!

It had almost no camera movement, like you were the third party in the corner watching the actors converse, or you were the opposite side when the camera closed up to the speaker. The script is something like no one can write except Paul Schrader himself, and the actors executed them so well, especially Reverand Ernst…
