    The Invisible Man's Revenge

    ★★½

Probably the weakest entry in The Invisible Man series. This sequel recycles several already recycled plots, features bland performances, forgettable characters and an uninteresting story. The main focus is now truly on the special effects. The film is disappointingly tedious and it is hard to care for any of the characters of this story.

Lon Chaney, Jr. takes up the mantle of Dracula in Universal's third installment of the series, Son of Dracula. In my opinion he is horribly miscast as the Count. The plot of this film is stupid and hilarious at the same time. Chaney has no charisma as Dracula and the rest of the characters are forgettable as hell. The special effects are awful.

Emma Stone and Emma Thompson were incredible and the rivalry between their characters was fun to watch. Paul Walter Hauser as Horace was hilarious and the costumes were stunning. My issues with the film is the last third and a certain scene in the beginning, but all things considered it was much better than what I was initially expecting. A cheesy film that works more as a coming-of-age film than as a scary horror film. The characters are decent and the children not that irritable as I expected them to be. The special effects are not that convincing during the transformation scenes. Gary Busey as Uncle Red actually gives an entertaining performance. The direction is uninspired and the writing leaves a lot to be desired. Far from a good movie, but it is watchable even if it is not memorable at all. The film has campy humour which suprisingly works in some instances.
