“A modern day docu-drama version of How the West was Won coupled with a Steinbeck novel”

This is outstanding cinema and demands to be seen on a large screen. It will be the first movie I see in a cinema when they reopen in May in the UK. For now, the UHD presentation on Disney+ at least does some justice to the stunning visuals on display. The landscape of mid to Western USA is used in a modern day docu-drama version of How the West was Won coupled with a Steinbeck novel.  This time the villain is the financial crash of 2008.

The story is sedate, the characters real (literally in many cases) and the journey surprisingly heartwarming. The destination for many of the protagonists is The Elephant’s Graveyard - spiritual cleansing rather than just surviving.

Loved it.
