Markella’s review published on Letterboxd:
Watched with a Seattle women’s horror film class- the discussions afterward are always mind blowing-
Like how everything in this film is about rape. Everything, the dialogue, the situations, the school and it’s students, the videos filmed, the animals. Everything.
If Raw was made in America then Justine would be shown feeling shame, but not here. She smiles when she’s covered in blood. I learned that the director didn’t make a horror film, rather, horror is created out of the drama she filmed. This is how many young girls really act, and cannibals do exist- it’s not a mythical thing. What if a young cannibal went to university while she discovered herself?
