I don’t know how else to say this, it felt like Phantom Thread for straight people

New York Ninja 2021
I’m just going to get this out of the way right now. I purchased this for $32 at my video store back when it was a hot commodity and planned to save it for a YouTube channel watch, but it was playing at the theater down the block so I figured it was an unmissable moment in history. I was fresh off of a Miami Connection viewing and really put all my eggs in New York Ninjas basket since twitter…

The Batman 2022
From the trailer I expected The Crow, maybe even Se7en. It did have that essence…but it was more akin to Tim Burtons films then the Christopher Nolan trilogy. It messed me up the whole time just because I made that assumption and I take full responsibility.
One more complaint and then a positive; Why tf would you cast Paul mother fucking Dano in this and not have Batman beat him senseless, glasses soaked in tears and mud? Hello?? I have…

Time Walker 1982
Came for the title and gorgeous weirdo cover art, left because it’s a scam 😤
It’s just a boring mummy movie, ugly to look at, and I didn’t finish it bro.

Miami Connection 1987
I drank wine in the alley on the way to the theater for this. Little moments the audience forgot about got us the most- the suits at the club arguing- people were laughing uncontrollably, like middle of the night laying on the floor laughing.
Miami Connection has WAY more heart and substance than other films of its type. WAYY more going on.
It deserves everything

David Byrne's American Utopia 2020
Saw this alone in a theater which turned out alright because after an emotional moment on stage, I cried crocodile tears, big sobbing ones. Other people in the audience tried to cover their sniffles like me.
I didn’t believe it when the podcast You Talkin’ Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head? said this was a better documentary concert than the award winning 1984 film Stop Making Sense, but I’m here to report it’s true.
Filmed on Broadway New York City…

The Power of the Dog 2021
You’re out here comparing this to There Will be Blood because you’re too shy to say it’s Phantom Threads brother

The French Dispatch 2021
Last weekend my mother and I took edibles and watched this with her roommate over Burger King Impossible burgers.
At first I thought, oh dear, Wes Anderson has devolved into a caricature of himself- a cartoon of himself.
I realized it was his Russian Doll of his filmography, expanding, expanding, expanding. This is the labyrinth of Wes Anderson. I can’t even fathom how many set pieces were created for The French Dispatch, I don’t want to know.

The Scary of Sixty-First 2021
Yes yes yes 2021- that’s how you send a love letter to 70’s film!
I know it’s on Shudder but it’s also at the theater down the block, I had to go! And happy I did. Red Letter Media described it as girls who become possessed by the concept of the various subject matter surrounding Jeffery Epstein and like 😂😂 that really is the best way to describe it dude!
It could have been a higher rated film, it could…

Nightmare Alley 2021
Thought it was an HBO show. Didn’t care for the trailer at all.
Mall movie for people who don’t see a lot of films. I’m sure you don’t want to hear me complain anymore about it so I won’t

West Side Story 1961
A film I’ve tried to watch more than any other film before. I love love love the first 10 minutes, because what I see is a beautifully filmed depiction of the New York City streets, and blocks, and pavement. And then the deeper into the film I get the more I lose interest. I know I watched the whole thing last year, but I can’t remember anything past when the lady is singing about a dress in front of a mirror. I’m sorry 😞
