Not necessarily in that order.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
As of right now, moments after this film has ended, I am incredibly angry at the direction taken and it feels a smidge sexist???
AFTER SLEEP UPDATE: Dr. Strange himself annoys me. America Chavez is…fine? Christine is “A red wig and a silver dress? I don’t think.” Wanda’s arc infuriated me, then I understand, then I’m infuriated again. She just coped with her grief exponentially in WandaVision and now you’re making her unequivocally evil? I wanted her to keep killing!
I usually write something quippy on here. Something light and fluffy with some dumb joke I think of that makes me say “Ah, that’s it!” in the middle of the film.
However, this movie made me mad. All the performances were stressfully underwritten, not allowing for any of them do anything. When they did speak, it was strictly in quips and cliches. The children were all overly precocious. Every scene lasted about 15 seconds. Kenneth’s direction was so pretentious. (OH? You slanted your camera? How DIFFERENT.)
I went into this film so excited and left beyond confused by the love it is receiving.
