  • Suspiria

i was firmly in the 'remake suspiria???? when the original is RIGHT THERE?' camp for years and was also a bit put off by the "horror film for the #MeToo era!" branding that every film featuring more than one woman released in this period received but tbf i enjoyed this a lot and its exactly what a remake should be in terms of completely reimagining the original. was too long and sometimes it felt a bit like luca guadignino was…

  • The Beach House

    The Beach House

every parasitic invasion body horror film is good including this one

  • The Loved Ones

    The Loved Ones

a flawlessly executed teen horror ! john hughes meets saw

  • Mandy

this was CLASS! absolutely visually stunning and gloriously pastiche and fun and Nicolas Cage's performance also gives a really impressive amount of heart to a fairly sparse script and story

(definitely watch high def on a big TV with proper speakers if you can i rly regret watching on a laptop and also missing it in cinemas cos reckon it would be truly transcendental, tbh it's not a great laptop movie)

  • Vivarium

the design was really fun but it did lose me a bit about halfway through and started to feel a bit gimmicky. there's a lot of pressure on the dialogue and interpersonal relationships in this kind of concept and i don't think they were quite up to scratch or explored in depth enough even though the lead performances were great especially Poots. also the voice effect on the kid was fucking horrific and not in a good way jesus

  • Uncut Gems

    Uncut Gems

adam sandler was so good in this that it installed a false memory in me that he was at least nominated for an oscar for it and just didn't win and now it's completely ruined my day that he wasn't. i was so incredibly stressed during this film that i had to get up and pace around multiple times to work the adrenaline off but also laughed out loud a lot, top content

  • Knives Out

    Knives Out

was worried about watching this because of the hype but it really delivered, really simple concept executed with just absolute technical and creative excellence, the cast is GOLD. 2 hours of just solid top-quality entertainment with the perfect balance between campiness and compelling and timely underlying themes. i also loved Daniel Craig's absurd accent idc
