I like to think you killed a man. It's the romantic in me."
I have watched this movie every Valentine's Day since the beginning of college. Mostly because when I started loving it, I loved the sweeping romance of it all, and it read as a perfect movie to watch on Valentine's Day. The ending—tragic but poetic.
Now, I know that the love story is really a means for Rick and Ilsa to disover what they owe each other after a whirlwind, all encompassing affair. To be in love at the wrong time. To be vulnerable and learning how to be vulnerable again. Tragic, yeah. But poetic as well.
I guess it's not really a movie about romance so much as it's a movie about Love in all its forms—and what it propels you to do.
Is it very obvious that I'm stoned? Anywhomst.
