After my initial viewing of this film when I was 13, I didn't get it. Rewatching it for the first time, eight years later, it has evolved into something completely different. And I love it.
Hilarious, sadistic, nihilistic and just so so good, it's a masterclass in pitch-black humour, oddly reminiscent of The House that Jack Built. Bale's performance is one for the ages.
To the people who don't like it, 'stop sounding so fucking sad'
