"Guns are crazy, how are these legal??"
On Tuesday my girlfriend asked what our first Sundance movie was and I said "the comedy about the friends who want to commit suicide" and realized I may have made a terrible mistake. It's a terrible sounding premise, especially coming from me who gave A Star Is Born only 1 star for the way it handles suicide (spoilers).

2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
Never before have I had a movie give me anxiety because I was so freaking desperate for it to get on with it. I thought if I had to look at one more shot of Kubrick's vacation with a color filter on it I was going to scream. So much iconic, amazing, moving music and beautifully designed shots were used to absolutely no emotional end. You can draw meaningful musings out of abstract imagery all day long but just saying things doesn't make you interesting.
And HAL 9000 doesn't even do anything???
