Sabotage 2014
This movie is a walking talking hard on, bumping into everything as it shoots and sprays with reckless abandon. Everyone shits on Snyder for being a bro (and rightfully so) but Ayer is imo even more of gun-toting frat boy who sees the world as one big shit-talking session or massive casualty event. This one get s a little credit for being unabashedly evil and brutal, kind of like the sawed-off shotgun version of Savages just without the fun. romance, sex, or playful bombast. It's reckless and stupid, so basically David Ayer's favorite kind of genre gusher.

The Marksman 2021
Sad to say this just isn't very good. From the very first gun battle it's clear that Lorenz has no idea how to shoot an action scene. He's trying so hard to be Clint it's almost painful, and Neeson as a stand-in for the man himself just doesn't work. I will say that the young actor Jacob Perez is a real find and provides a convincing emotional core for a film that otherwise fails to elicit anything meaningful.

Hillbilly Elegy 2020
I'm not going to say this is the worst movie ever (because it isn't), but it might feature the clunkiest lead performance in modern cinema. Hate to single out Gabriel Basso because there's a lot of blame to go around. Still, his every line reading feels like an audition, as if he no idea what to do in any given scene except shrug, puff out his chest, get loud, or sulk. I felt physically uncomfortable watching this dude on-screen. And strangely, this is partially why the movie works as an effective depiction of blue collar shame and crippling inequality made worse by self-destructiveness. Weird movie.

Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects 1989
The closest Bronson ever got to a Robert Altman film, and one of the most heinous, racist films I've ever seen. Impressively vile.

Uncle Frank 2020
Alan Ball is one boring ass director. But Peter Macdissi is wonderful in this so it's often watchable, and often not.

Happy Death Day 2017
A GROUNDHOG DAY for the ignorant age that has never watched GROUNDHOG DAY. At least it knows it's dumb.
