The more you drive, the less intelligent you become.

I believe that this film is the purest cinematic distillation of the Minutemen's seminal album, Double Nickels on the Dime. In the pacing - cowpunk interludes, manic fits, but never careening that far off the edge, more like driving on a wide open road. As well as the themes - paranoia, cynicism, anger, and absurdity.

The POV is informed by car-centric infrastructure of LA. We are a passenger. The view washes…

Selected this gem from a movie shelf at a remote mountain A-frame cabin. Viewed on a TV placed unfortunately above the fireplace. Very good for this specific situation in which you don't want the burden of choice or good taste.

I love the character actor bits and all the post office jokes. Our lead is sooo boring and gets totally unearned attn and trust from these very charming people.

Sets look a little stage-y and lacking in detail but the…

    Just enhance the memory index!

Much to my surprise, this is way better than Lawnmower Man. Its all the ridiculousness and trippiness BUT also a real plot with stakes and tension?

Look at them....they're soft. Spangled with decadence.

This film was originally called The War on Christmas.

Things this movie has that I like:
    ✅ Airboats
✅ Gators (kind of a given with airboats)
✅ A tough man with soft spot for a small animal (pet armadillo)
✅ Taking a big bazooka to an idyllic American suburb on Christmas
✅ Characters named very literally after their functions a la Tenessee Williams
✅ shooting a man in the dick on two occasions
    ✅ Hot slavs
    ✅ Ball busting female journalist
    ✅ International communist solidarity
✅ Close range bazooka shoot out
✅ "you're really starting to piss me off"

    Wonder Woman 1984

Yeah a lot of us want the world to be better but we should really accept that the status quo is the natural God given truth. You see there are trade offs to change. I understand the msg is intended to be more "don't take shortcuts/cheat," but the way it gets communicated in the lasso of truth monologue, it really does sound like "don't wish for things" or "accept the status quo." its a problem with script but also basic…
