I liked this overall, despite a few silly takes and attempts to be funny. It's a good slow build on all the things that built up to become who Dick Cheney is today, and what he did to the world along the way.

Feels like a third part of a trilogy of films, starting with The Other Guys, then The Big Short, and now this.

I love Adam McKay's comedy and I hope he keeps putting out movies like this and the Big Short. I could do with less talking to the camera, but overall these are pretty good.

  • The Hate U Give

    The Hate U Give

Good generic story of police brutality that covers a lot of bases and makes clear how hard it is to speak out and up. The trailer gives almost all of the movie away but it was still intense as hell and a powerful film.

  • If Beale Street Could Talk

    If Beale Street Could Talk

Beautiful, crushingly sad, and well done.

  • Venom

God this was dumb. I liked this movie better when it was called Upgrade and cost 1/20th as much to make.

  • Annihilation

I didn’t love this even though everyone around me did. It just didn’t do it for me. The ending felt like bullshit and undercut all the cool world building that went on.

  • The Sisters Brothers

    The Sisters Brothers

Pretty good little brother vs brother film about an old west where living and dying were much closer to one another. It turns into a bit of a road trip plus small caper movie with a satisfying ending. Beautiful scenery throughout as well.

  • Holmes & Watson

    Holmes & Watson

Extremely silly and goofy buddy comedy but ultimately funny enough. It's no Talladega Nights, but it's not as bad as I feared it may be.

  • Elf

    Still so good

  • Night School

    Night School

    Pretty forgettable silly comedy

  • A Simple Favor

    A Simple Favor

Hilarious weird comedy thriller murder mystery that pulls you along. The ads last summer made it seem like a completely different beast, but it was a fun roller coaster worth catching.

  • The Favourite

    The Favourite

Amazing style in how it looked and great performances all around. I loved it, even though it was pretty sparse.

  • Mary Poppins Returns

    Mary Poppins Returns

Silly fun done in a throwback style. Really loved the sets and the costuming is Oscar worthy. I wished the songs were more catchy and the plot was a bit simplistic and it took a long time to get to the end but it was a good bit of fun.

The bike riding cracked me up. For no reason, there’s a double peg grind on a handrail. Then tabletops off quarterpipes. And Emily Blunt doing a Blender!  Madness I tell you, all of it.
