  no idea what score to give this, I enjoyed it but beyond that my thoughts are all over the place. 80% quite brilliant, 20% pretty frustrating. I really just want to rewatch in the mood for love now. mixed feelings on all the action, not really all that funny, a very pure and sweet ethos to the whole film but i dont know if it garbled it all up at the end, don't know that I really loved the relationships in this film even though all the performances were pretty good. It's a real ❓/5 for me. I dunno.

  I'm rewatching this with Barry Jenkin's commentary and -

  -this is without doubt my favourite film of all time
  - barry jenkins says he doesnt want to let the audience be a voyeur in the fight scene but be in it, experience it and that's probably the most powerful and absorbing way the film works
  -the scene with Chiron washing his face in the ice is one of the most beautiful shots in movies ever
  -I want more films with Trevante Rhodes
  -Movies made by directors about their hometowns might be my favourite genre of movie
