Every Marvel movie of the last 10 years has led to this, the end game of the Avengers series, acting as a sort of "series finale" to the story. A three hour epic leading to a fantastic battle scene, however the film isn't without its flaws.
Yes it's a culmination of over 20 movies worth of stories but did it really need to be three hours long? There was a lot of filler and forced humour that we could have done without.
Obviously every character needs to be showcased in their own way, and we do get a bunch of that, even for characters who weren't in the last film due to storyline reasons. I haven't seen Captain Marvel yet, but she was way too overpowered for this type of story and her appearance was jarring since she's treated basically as a weapon rather than a character.
Hawkeye (the worst avenger) also returns, getting an upgrade to become a semi-useful character (and looking fine with his new haircut and tattoos) - however yet again the filmmakers refuse to kill this bore off, they had their chance in Age of Ultron and yet again a better character sacrifices themselves for him!
That battle scene at the end makes everything worth it though, it's like Infinity War's final battle but on a grander scale. Game of Thrones who? Every character involved gets a chance to kick ass and take names, and they do it so well. I almost teared up when Peter Parker returned.
