It's fun, and there's a lot of great dialog and moments in the film, but wow it did not hang together for me. I never believed in Melvyn Douglas' character, he seemed like he was playing the Best Friend in a movie where he's supposed to be the charming leading man.

The main problem is there's like an entire act missing. We meet Ninotchka, she's a great character, basically Greta Garbo playing a Sci-fi Robot (because this was their commentary…

    The Matrix Reloaded

Every once in a while, for about three minutes at a time, the characters in the Matrix do this weird thing I don't understand. Their lips move, and sound comes out.

The plot is meaningless. I felt like you could have…

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Academy-award winning director Sidney Lumet wrote, in his excellent book Making Movies that unless you have something important to say, there’s no reason your movie should be longer than 2 hours. He cites Schindler’s List as an example of a movie about significant enough a subject as to warrant a-3 hour movie. "But Fried Green Tomatoes?"

Peter Jackson’s Return Of The King clocks in at three hours and twenty minutes and it’s too long. Which is not to say it’s…
