Not James Franco’s finest moment…something I’m sure that’s been said more than once.
Like all of Paul Thomas Anderson’s work, it’s hard for me to know exactly how I rate something after the initial viewing. Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood and Inherent Vice are films that I knew I enjoyed when I first saw them, but my love and appreciation totally grew in subsequent viewings. I took some time after the screening of Licorice Pizza to collect my thoughts:
1. Takes some time to get your bearings and understand where you’re at…
Not in love with this CGI Pennywise look, but there are parts that are absolutely what want I want It to be. The kids are mostly great. I just feel like the final confrontation really misses the mark.
I do have an appreciation for any movie that uses “Six Different Ways” by The Cure…so, this and The Rules of Attraction.
