An important piece in the history of Japanese cinema, Ramayana is an experiment in puppet animation produced by Tōhō in 1943, in the midst
of the world conflict, one of the first works with special effects by Tsuburaya Eiji and allegedly directed by Shimizu Hiroshi.
Probably it was supposed to be screened with the benshi accompaniment.
