β€˜Beau is Afraid’ feels like a movie that will be assessed differently overtime. It’s one that I really struggled with giving a rating. I’ve seen a lot of people love this and a lot of people jarred by it. But so far, everyone respects it. I think, as years go by, this is the kind of movie that will go on to build a cult following.

For me, it stuck the landing more often than not, but I do…

I’m just gonna say it: people hate on β€˜Monsters University’ way too much. I like this movie. It’s underrated. Leave it alone, nerds.

I looked online at where I should start when introducing myself to Ingmar Bergman’s filmography, and decided to start with β€˜Wild Strawberries’. And honestly, it was fantastic. Bergman’s uses of close shots that focus on the faces of the characters really help to understand their thought process to the revelations they experience throughout. Bergman wants us to focus on every movement, and I did. This is a very well constructed story of finding closure and coming to terms with one’s self. I’m very much looking forward to exploring more of Bergman’s work!

*I’ve never seen any Wes Anderson movies, so I’m watching one every week before β€˜Asteroid City’ releases*

    10/10

Absolutely fantastic and by far my favourite live-action Wes Anderson movie so far. Hilarious, beautifully shot with so much colour and life. Ralph Fiennes is brilliant and plays probably my favourite Anderson character. Some of his lines actually had me crying with laughter. There’s so much energy and I had an absolute blast watching this. Highly recommend!

Not going to lie, I think this might be one of my personal favourite Scorsese’s…

Captivating from start to finish, β€˜The King of Comedy’ is clever and honest. De Niro is excellent at playing this mentally unstable individual, but manages to make him almost sympathetic. I was watching what he did and very well aware that what he did was wrong, but I couldn’t help but feel for him, and that is the sign of some exceptional writing, direction, and acting.
