Meat

Meat ★★★½

If you know Wiseman’s style and you know the name of this movie, you have a pretty good idea of what this movie is. Yet there are still shocking moments (mostly with the lambs, which became extremely difficult for me to watch) and well-made choices (the union debate is vintage Wiseman). This could turn many vegetarian but it isn’t meant to. Instead, Wiseman is just as intently focused on highlighting the function and disfunction of a highly organized system essential to our society as he has been throughout his career. He might have a particular perspective on the subject, but what you bring to it and take away is yet again up to you.
