26. Watch An Action Film Based on An Original Idea
I guess this is "original" in that it's not a remake or a book but it's not an original concept in the sense it's a dystopian film. It's a dog shit one at that, like a cross of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Idiocracy with the budget of a Troma movie. This is truly awful and I wouldn't make anyone suffer through this nonsensical bore.

Week 21: Joe D'amato Week
D'amato has never landed with me. I've seen a handful of movies under his name at this point and every time I've come out confused and bored.
Death Smiles on A Murderer is his best looking one I've seen, like it's a competent film actually attempting a story but it was beyond my understanding. I will recognize two great death scenes- a shotgun to the face and a cat scratching the shit out of another person's face. D'amato has the passion, he's just not for me.
Hear me out- I'm a big Rob Zombie fan whether as a musician or a director. Him taking on a PG rated film was a side that I never expected. I think everyone can agree there was some excitement with the announcement of him directing The Munsters and all excitement diminished quickly when that horrid trailer dropped. The movie really isn't that bad! Much better than the trailer leads you to believe.
