I don't think this film is anything special. The best it has to offer really is strong chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and a rare father role for Robert De Niro where he isn't either abusive or generally dismissive. The story doesn't properly get into the weeds of mental illness, feeling more like it uses it as a prop to get the audience invested in a romance. Which I suppose is okay though considering how prevalent mental illness is. I think I was just hoping for something a bit more substantial.
