I can't believe how shocked I was when the big event happens in this movie. I guess I am more impressionable to advertising than I would like to believe. A high energy Rosemary's Baby even with the craziest shit was happening all the family emotions were grounded in reality which makes Hereditary much more unnerving than the average horror movie.
Toni Collette and Nate Wolffe are every bit as good as Farrow and Cassavetes.
From a movie business perspective I think we are in a good place where basically a modern day 70's director can take what is basically the plot to like Paranormal Activity and turn it into a arty family drama with great acting, but also make it profitable!
