Man, what a ride. I don't think any film since 'California Split' has done more to capture the manic gutpunch energy that drives the world's inveterate gamblers and hustlers.
Plenty of that is down to Sandler's God-mode performance, and he's the perfect outlet for the Safdie's filmmaking energy, best described as [anxious screaming].
I left the theater wanting to drive four hours to the nearest casino and bet money I don't have. Instead, I biked home and am still solvent and alive.
