Matthew Saponar’s review published on Letterboxd:
a little ironic that the best way to see this film is... blind.
sporting an 88 minute run-time, DON'T BREATHE may have set the record for most gasps-per-minute.
this is the most fun i've had in a theater all year. it starts out a bit slow and then the first scare comes. from then on, i had my hands over my mouth until it ended. seeing this with a packed house, screaming and shouting at how fucking wild this thing gets towards the end was absolutely priceless. plus alvarez directs this with such a vicious swiftness that we haven't seen since carpenter. this is a grimy, thrilling fucking film jacked head over heels with crowd-pleasing moments, genuinely well-acted and sympathetic hero(in)es and villains (lang and levy are god-level) and a pace that'll rip you a new one.
just a shame that the trailers kind of take the fun out of all that.
