I don't know why I keep tricking myself into thinking I don't hate Rob Zombie. I really enjoyed the first 15 minutes and I thought I might like it (and it's why this is 2 stars) but nope I hated it & spent the last hour actively wishing it was over, which honestly bums me out because very few modern filmmakers are so honestly & unapologetically horror-directors and I wish I liked him but I find his worldview immature, his filmmaking pedestrian (but still self-important. mostly some left over Halloween 2 bitterness but it creeps in here), and his stories derivative and joyless. Sid Haig is good.
