In 1999 the British Film Institute surveyed 1,000 people from the world of British film and television to produce the BFI 100 list of the greatest British films of the 20th century. The result was more or less predictable.
This is a list of 100 great British movies, or at least personal favourite British movies (nobody else is going to fight on behalf of Three Hats for Lisa, let's face it), some of which were criminally overlooked or neglected, but all of which didn't get a look-in, in the BFI 100.
All 100 films are no more recent than 1999, the year of the BFI poll.
I've not included television dramas/plays; so no Cathy Come Home, no Nuts in May, no The War Game, etc.
This list is subject to constant change and updating.
