Max Parsons’s review published on Letterboxd:
I liked this film a lot, but I'm a little unclear on parts of it, so I don't think I can go above a 4/5 rating as of now and a rewatch will be needed. Anyway, The Double Life of Veronique is a completely sublime film. The direction is beautiful, Irène Jacob's performance is excellent, and the unique and enigmatic story comes together wonderfully. One aspect of The Double Life of Veronique I especially loved was the cinematography, which is fantastic. It achieves to capture many greatly exquisite frames and diffuse different tones of colours on the screen that immaculately sets an atmosphere. The story, too, is superb and has an emotional core to it, which made experiencing the lives of Weronika/Véronique a delightful experience. Overall, The Double Life of Veronique was a truly great film and it definitely has the potential to become even better with additional viewings.
