A taught, ambiguous psychological thriller about jealousy with some serious echoes of MULHOLLAND DR. Uses it's editing and sound design to tremendous affect. Throw in a couple of great lead performances and the feminine perspective that director Sophia Takal gives this and you've got an excellent film on your hands.
Kelly Reichardt handles her thrillers with as much care and subtlety as her dramas. Her recurring theme of compassion is at play here, albeit in a much different role than it takes in films like WENDY AND LUCY. This film is just as much an exploration of ego and guilt as it is a tense thriller.
