Consistently out-of-focus and noticeably underlit/overlit — either way, the lighting is pretty bad. Yet the Safdie Brothers have found their niche, however much I disagree with their style of directing.
To their credit, it’s a step up from Good Time. Adam Sandler is great and the narrative is super stressful and engaging. Granted, the story is very much Bad Lieutenant inspired, but a good story is a good story.
Overall, not my choice of filmmaking but a respectable effort from the up-and-coming duo. That is all.
