Even though the directing was a little off and the script wasn't spectacular, the story was cute.
This first thing I always want to know when reading a horror film is; Will something jump out and scare me? Short answer: No. "The Witch" is so much scarier than relying on cheap gimmicks to terrify, instead the film presents a rich ambience that leaves your body and soul shaken. Truly put best by a review from Hitflix which says the film "feels like something you shouldn't be watching." "The Witch" turns your stomach yet still forces you to…
I fully understand Sam Raimi's vision for Drag Me To Hell... bludgeoning modern horror tropes to a ridiculous degree and all that jazz.
Unfortunately, I've become so bitter than any level of jump scare crushes my chin with old gypsy teeth (see what I did there?) Therefore, continuous scare after scare left me rolling my eyes rather than collapsing in laughter.
Sorry Sam, even though Drag Me To Hell came first- Cabin in the Woods did it better.
