Michael Chantiri’s review published on Letterboxd:
Listened to the commentary track and I can confrim that Richard Kelly has a galaxy brain. Dude intended to make the construction of the film like a complex conspiracy and sought out to make it hard to decode. People said that Kelly was in over his head but this is one of the few films that depicts our political climate for what it is an overwhelming, hysterical and ever changing series of events.
I've realized that Southland Tales mixes two things I love the most, sincerity and ridiculousness. The fabric of the film just keeps warping until it caves in on itself, literally. One of my favourite elements has always been Fluid Karma. It effects the viewer, making them get crazier and crazier just like the characters. It's really no wonder why this still holds the number one spot as my favourite movie of all time.
