Should've just called it Commando 2.
It has its nice share of gore and special effects but it's off-balanced with major tone issues, poor editing and sound design, and some questionable character choices... in one scene the protagonist just gives up chasing after a suspect even though he was like 6 feet in front of her... and one officer who they run past takes off in the other direction. Like, what?
There's two different movies going on here, a supernatural slasher and a detective drama, but they don't mesh well at all.
I had to settle with the cheap theater nearby and what a mistake that was, the screen was so horribly dim I could hardly see anything. My eyes eventually adjusted a little but it was a constant lingering pain in the ass to sit through.
The movie itself was only really worth the watch for Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who were as enjoyable as usual, but unfortunately every other aspect of this film was pretty bland and forgettable. Too…
