M.D. Perkins’s review published on Letterboxd :
Proof of the inherent strength of a director. Utterly charming and sweet, Monte Carlo shines above similar entries from the era that are more beholden to plot or chemistry. This has plot and chemistry plus it's stuffed with detail and flourish. It is so effortless you forget how often the same things don't work in lesser hands. A well-constructed Pre-Code romantic comedy that is able to integrate its music seamlessly into the narrative and use it for comment and characterization throughout. No one did these breezy romantic upper class musicals quite like Ernst Lubtisch.
