"Enola Holmes" is about Enola Holmes who discovers her mother was missing and uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock and help a runaway lord.
I'm not excited to watch this because I was expecting to be very disappointing like most movies that were released in 2020, but when I saw many positive things about this, I just change my mind. During the pandemic, we've seen a lot of terrible, or disappointing Netflix movies like Project Power, The Old Guard, and that Coffee and Kareem cringy dogshit. And I'm dumbfounded that this Netflix movie is enjoyable and surprisingly decent.
The performances are entertaining and the casting is great, Eleven Holmes a.k.a. Milly Bobby Brown did a great job in it, and pretty much the fun part of this movie is her narrating by breaking the 4th wall, Superman Holmes a.k.a. Henry Cavill also does a great job, as well as some of the cast. The writing and the directing are decent, fun storytelling with a clever and comedic 4th wall break narrating, a few funny jokes, and some good character development. The editing is enjoyable and absolutely wonderful. And the cinematography is not that bad.
However, a few problems with this movie. The pacing is mediocre, the first... 45 mins were fun, but after that, it feels boring b4 the fun happens in the second half of the 2nd act. The villain and maybe a couple of characters feel bland and undeveloped. And the plot is predictable.
Overall, If you're looking for a good 2020 movie, this movie is for you. "Enola Holmes" is a fun, rewatchable, a bit boring, and family... friendly movie??, IDK??.
