Vivid and complex characters- from the horrible and unreliable Matthew Broderick to the tragic and unreliable Reese Witherspoon all the way to the simple/kind boring dude from American Pie- amidst a plot with stakes blown out of proportion but a realism to it all that heightens the absurdity, Election is truly a one of a kind dark comedy that I look forward to watching again.
Some stuff was weird and icky for sure (@the teacher-student sexual relationship), but the story handled the tragedy and manipulation of women with an impressive amount of self awareness for 1999. Some final thoughts: Tammy is a queen (I wish she would have run my student council) and this young-ass Reese is the funniest I have ever seen that energy ball of a human.
