Storytime with uncles Ethan and Joel. I love this anthology so much. Tim Blake Nelson kicks things off with a bang (several, in fact!) Seeing James Franco strung up not once but twice is strangely satisfying. And Stephen Root is maybe the greatest comedic character actor on the damn planet. The Neeson sequence is probably my least fave of the bunch, but like cold pizza, still not bad. Also, kind of fun to imagine that this is really how things turned out for Dudley Dursley. I love Tom Waits with the fire of a thousand suns. I wish people would cast him in all the things. The Zoe Kazan section felt almost like a nod to Reichardt’s Meek’s Cutoff. I would watch a full length feature about Mr. Arthur. And finally, Brendan Gleeson sings like a damn angel. Why has this talent not been exploited in more films? So fun. So much fun.
