  • The Beyond

    The Beyond

    ★★

A film in my Octorror List. Looked like a cool giallo, but isn't my cup of tea. It was beautifully restored and looked amazing but was all too slow for me and the effects were lame. Sorry.

  • Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too

Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too

    ★★

    Nothing new here, move on.
Boring story that has been told a thousand times before and better.
Also, where is the Black Mirror form early days, when it was more dark?

  • The Karate Kid Part II

    The Karate Kid Part II

    ★★

    No then. No now.

  • Happy Death Day

    Happy Death Day

    ★★

    This was not for me.
Nothing new, Groundhog Day ripoff and teen girl slasher flick. Everything safe and mainstream. Move on.
Oh, funny how the poster of They Live hang in the guy's room. I saw it two days before this one.
    Octorror film #10

  • C'est La Vie

    C'est La Vie

    ★★

    Hm.

  • The Lodgers

    The Lodgers

    ★★

Slow burning dark tale that never really gets interesting. I dozed off.

  • The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears

The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears

    ★★

The poster for this film (made by Gilles Vranckx) is one of the most beautiful posters I've ever seen. I was hoping I could say the same for the movie, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. It looked amazing and it's a great homage to the old Giallo movies, but it was too messy, to experimental, too vague for me. I'm sure it can work out great for others.

  • She Who Must Burn

    She Who Must Burn

    ★★

Jeez, what can I see about this one...Tough watch this indie horror. Grey images and a deep black subject. Nasty but pintless. And a loooooong sit.
    Nope.

  • Eaten Alive

    Eaten Alive

    ★★

    OCTORROR DAY 8.
Strange, strange film that has the same vibes as Tobe Hooper's predecessor, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The music and sound effects are annoying, which adds to your feeling of discomfort. The settings are cheap and the story is thin. Oh, and the acting is bad (except for Neville Brand). Exploitation to the max but one that kinda stays interesting. Sort of.

  • Humanoids from the Deep

    Humanoids from the Deep

    ★★

    OCTORROR movie 1: letterboxd.com/mennomail/list/mennos-octorror/
Wasn't expecting much and got nothing much. Fun movie to watch, but is too corny and clumsy to entertain. The monsters from the deep are very well made though and the flesh wounds are great, but no, not a good movie.

  • Texas Chainsaw 3D

    Texas Chainsaw 3D

    ★★

Funny how they picked the story up right after the end of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre from 1974. But this film misses everything that made the original so great. Everything and everyone is irritating in this film. Cheap jump scares. Lazy filmmaking. Bluh.

  • Doctor Strange

    Doctor Strange

    ★★

What a piece of pointless garbage. The smartass jokes of mister Strange are terrible and the visual effects are boring. Maybe this film is just not for me.
