  I just love movies where there's one scientist at a table of military brass and politicians, and they're faced with something unknown, and the scientist is the only one to go, "stop your desperately narrow-minded theories, look at the actual evidence wherever it leads," and they prove to be right when everyone else is wrong.   Well, I liked "Hill House" better (felt more emotionally/thematically grounded), but if they do a third series on a level with "Bly Manor", I am 10000% watching it.

  Knives Out 2019

  ★★★★★ Added

  Now seen it twice. Loved it the first time through getting the reveals; loved it the second time through seeing how perfectly it tracked. Loved everything else about it both times. Just wonderful on so many levels. May return to this review to list specific praises. For now, just gushing.

  Jumanji: The Next Level 2019

  ★★★½ Added

  I loved it ^_^ Loved that, like the previous one, while it has fun action and effects and beautiful scenery, it's mainly a comedy of manners—these fantastic actors having a blast, getting to play with so much variety in and out of "types", and rocking it. At the same time, it WASN'T just a replica of the first one; the riffs and additions were inventive and fun.

  Main thing that impressed me, though, is the risk-taking/taboo-skirting cross-race casting and acting.…
