I don’t know how I forgot to log this, because I’m at the parents’ house and everyone has been talking in the Tony voice for days, Mrs. Torrance.
When introducing the film Alice Waddingngton dedicated it to all the girls who grew up loving sci-fi and fantasy but never feeling like they really saw themselves in it. And boy did it deliver!!! Wholly original, but with notes of Alice in Wonderland, Return to Oz, Labyrinth, Picnic at Hanging Rock, and all of the 80s/90s fantasy I grew up loving. It looks terrific and unique and the cast is outstanding. A great revision of the classics.
I have a weakness and it is crappy thrillers with amazing casts. Why do I do this to myself. These are movies meant to be watched on television by accident when you’re too lazy to change the channel or it’s the only thing on at the hotel and yet every few months I actively seek one out. I pay money for it. What sadistic desire makes me want to watch actors of caliber struggle through hideously cliche lines of dialogue…
