Army of the Dead

Army of the Dead ★★★

Appears primed for greatness, until Snyder mostly flounders with a run-of-the-mill climatic sequence featuring the usual sacrificial totems and character stupidity. The juxtaposition between our heist group and the zombie clan draws us into a fascinating reflection of the former’s inherent individualism and selfish greed — more so in a post-apocalyptic, pre-nuclear meltdown setting — but I suspect most of it’s in the head, rather than finding its form onscreen.
