Wonderful Jean Arthur vehicle about department store employees trying to unionize and the store owner going "undercover" to break it up. Very likeable comedy. Kudos to Charles Coburn as the stiff boss with the soft middle.

Rewatched on the big screen at the Pacific Film Archive. My third viewing on the big screen. This is one of my all-time favorites and I can live in its anecdotal stream over and over again. Yes, Marcello is an asshole, but you are still drawn to the worlds he moves in. The subtitle translations seemed new and were "off" to me -- perhaps too literal and weren't re-written to augment a visual gag.

    Marriage Story

The most mainstream movie yet by Noah Baumbach. It's very emotional but I feel that bits are missing from the narrative. Basically an acting showcase for Johansson, Driver, and Dern. Loved "Greenberg," "Frances Ha," and "Mistress America" much better. Worth seeing but watch those others first.

Rewatched again. I can never get tired of this movie. I see something new in it every time. I think it had been a few years since I put this on. This is from the dual DVD Turner put out in 2001. This is screaming for an upgraded Criterion bluray.
