The Texas Chain Saw Massacre ★★★★★

This movie has never felt so haptic, febrile, and punishing as during a sleep-deprived, 6am, scratchy 35mm show at the PCC. I was pretty cold by this point in the morning, so the swelter of the movie (soaked in from the second row) felt particularly feverish, and being jolted awake by Marilyn Burns' screams, only to be instantly riveted by the tactility of those peeling, piss-stained images, is one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. An unquestionable masterpiece.
