Stop Making Sense

Stop Making Sense ★★★★

Pure, distilled excitement. Stop Making Sense is visually entrancing with David's frantic dancing, unbelievably frenetic choreography, immaculate lighting, and fluid camerawork. It's also chock-full of the Talking Heads's best live performances: the repeating ostinatos and experimentation in "This Must Be the Place," the wonderfully weird "Genius of Love," the groove-filled "Girlfriend is Better," the linear notes and anthemic chanting of "Take Me to the River," the rhythmic ranting and unique instrumentation in "Crosseyed and Painless," etc. Stop Making Sense is the greatest concert film ever.
